ABL Introduction

Allied Bank Limited is the public type commercial bank in Pakistan. ABL was established in 1942 and its headquarters is located in Lahore. It is the subsidiary of the Ibrahim Group. It is the first Muslim Bank founded on territory that later on became Pakistan. It was established by the Khawaja Bashir Baksh who was the Kashmiri silk trader. It is the former name at the time of its new setup was Australasia Bank. It was renamed as Allied Bank of Pakistan from Australasia Bank Limited in 1974. Three banks were merged with the allied bank as Sarhad Bank Ltd, Lahore Commercial Bank Ltd, and Pak Bank Ltd.
